Itinerary
The easiest way to get to Guanaja from the United States is to fly into San Pedro Sula, Honduras aboard a major international airline, and from there fly aboard a domestic airline to the island of Guanaja. There are three major airlines with reliable daily service from the United States to San Pedro Sula (American Airlines, Continental Airlines, and Taca Airlines). The airline you choose will depend largely on your desired point of departure from the United States: Houston, New Orleans, or Miami.
All three flights arrive in San Pedro Sula around 1:00 p.m., giving you ample time to make your domestic connection to the island. From San Pedro Sula, you may fly on either Islena Airlines or Sosa Airlines to reach Guanaja. We will meet you at the airport in Guanaja and travel the final five miles by boat to our destination.
Your travel agent should be able to arrange all your flight logistics for you, or you can book flights directly with the airlines. If your travel agent experiences any problems booking domestic flights within Honduras, or you are booking the flights on your own, please contact us and we'll be glad to assist you, as these flights are difficult to book from the US.

GUANAJA TRIP ITINERARY
Day 1 (Saturday)
Leave the United States and fly to Guanaja via San Pedro Sula. We will meet you at the airfield in Guanaja and travel by boat to the End of the World Resort. We will spend the evening relaxing while you unwind from your trip, have dinner, and allow you to acclimatize to the slower pace of island life.
Day 2 (Sunday)
We have a light day planned, including some time spent in the kayaks learning or polishing up on some basic skills and techniques, and snorkeling or hiking for those with extra energy. In the evening we'll relax, and after dinner, spend a little time with the charts, reviewing our route for the week.
Day 3 (Monday)
After breakfast we'll begin paddling up the leeward side of the island, protected from the prevailing easterly trade winds. We will paddle approximately four miles to Black Rock, and stop for lunch and some snorkeling. After lunch we'll paddle the last three miles to Northeast Bight, where the boat will pick us up and bring us back to End of the World, where we will have dinner and relax.
Day 4 (Tuesday)
After breakfast we'll ride in the boat back to Northeast Bight and paddle around the east end of Guanaja to Manatee Lodge on the other side of the island. On the way we will stop at a couple of cays for some snorkeling. After a small hike through an island banana plantation we'll return to End of the World for the evening.
Day 5 (Wednesday)
We'll paddle out to South West Cay, where we'll spend much of the day snorkeling in the marine reserve. On the ride back in the boat we'll stop at "the key" (Bonacca). This small, densely populated cay is home to about 80% of Guanaja's residents. We'll explore its narrow walkways and shops and have plenty of opportunities to meet and talk to the friendly islanders as they go about their day.
Day 6 (Thursday)
We'll paddle from South West Cay back to the main island and along the three-mile long West End Beach, ending at Wilmot Bay with some fantastic snorkeling just off the beach.
Day 7 (Friday)
On our last day we will have an easy paddle back to End of the World, and a beautiful hike through the tropical forest to a sparkling waterfall. Frequent stops will be made to point out the flora and fauna of the jungle, including the wild parrots that live in the area.
Day 8 (Saturday)
Take the boat from End of the World to the airport and say farewell as you leave to make your connections back to the states.
Note -- This itinerary is a basic outline of Caribbean Kayak Adventures' Guanaja trip. Weather conditions and/or other unforeseen events may cause changes in the actual trip. Any changes will be made in order to maximize the safety and enjoyment of our guests.
